Liposuction of the Flanks

The Flanks on men can be found right above the belt line on the back and sides. Liposuction in this area can significantly reduce the flanks and decrease the quantity of fat that hangs over the waistline.

The procedure works as follows, the patient receives a local anesthesia in order to numb the desired area to remove fat. A laser is then used to comfortably liquefy the fat right below the skin and to promote tightening of the skin. Each side will receive a small incision to give the surgeon easier access to contour the waistline. Patients experience less bruising, less pain, and a speedy recovery process since the fat which is slowly removed by a cannula as opposed to quicker removal using traditional liposuction. The complications are much less as a result.

It is not uncommon to combine a flank liposuction procedure together with additional procedures. When done jointly with abdominal liposuction, the whole waistline can be sculpted.
